Sergio Reguilon, when presented as a new player to Atletico Madrid, expressed his understanding that a section of the fans had refused to join the Rojiblancos.

Reguilon said he understood “that Atleti fans do not want him because of his past, but we are all in the same boat,” stressing that public opinion will change because he “left everything” for the team.

Reguilon, who will wear the number 3 shirt and previously played with Real Madrid for 7 seasons, before moving to Seville and Tottenham, confirmed that he was “very happy” to join the Rojiblancos battalion.

Reguilon joined Atletico on loan at the end of the season from Tottenham, saying, “I am a professional and I have no doubts about the strength of Atletico, the coach (Diego Simeone) has conveyed his confidence to me, everything is simple. Very simple.”

Regarding the refusal of some fans to join the team, he said, “If I were in the place of the fans, I would understand the competition between the two teams, but we are all in the same boat, I want the best for the club and the fans want the best for the club. I understand some of the comments, but I think it will pass with time.”

He stressed that he considers Atletico one of the “top” teams and that he seeks to win everything, and said, “What motivates me most is the desire to win.”
