Brazilian striker Anthony expressed his great happiness at officially joining Manchester United, today, Thursday, from Ajax.

“I am very happy to be here, this is a dream come true,” Anthony said in an interview with the official Manchester United website.

He added: “I want to write history here, and I hope to achieve great things with the club. I feel proud when I look at my chest and find the logo of this great club.”

And Anthony continued: “Eric Ten Hag is a distinguished coach, I have had great respect for him since I arrived at Ajax and he treats me well and trusts me, and it was not by chance that the level I performed under his leadership over the past two years, and when he left Ajax, I wished him the best and the success he deserves, and now I am I’m working with him again.”

Turning to talk about Ajax:

On Casemiro and Fred’s presence in Manchester United: “I am happy to have two Brazilian players here, and it would be great to meet together in the national team. I hope to learn from them. Fred told me about the club and I hope to write history with them.”

He continued, “As for Casemiro, we came from the same place, which is the youth team of Sao Paulo. We have not played together before because of the age difference, but it will be special if I share the stadium and the dressing rooms with him.”

He continued: “I spent two years with Lisandro (Martinez) at Ajax, and there is a strong friendship between us and I have a lot of respect for him. I am happy to work with him again. He has the Argentine style that plays with heart and soul on the field. I also have the same personality.”

He commented on his strengths: “Creativity, skill, passing and presenting special balls to my colleagues, and what I enjoy the most is dribbling, speed, scoring goals and celebrating with the fans.

And he continued: “My idol in Brazilian football is Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, two players I have always admired because of their skill. As for Manchester United, I admired Nani.”

He also talked about watching the Manchester United and Liverpool match: “Yes, I watched it, and when United scored, I celebrated as if I was with the fans in the stands, and what impressed me was the team’s desire and unity, I was very happy with the victory.”
