Barcelona is confident of reaching a solution through negotiations with Atletico Madrid, regarding the payment of the transfer cost of striker Antoine Griezmann, amounting to 40 million euros, before suing him for what he considers to be non-compliance with the contract between the two clubs, signed over the loan of the French international.
Sources in the Catalan club stated that Griezmann has been a player for Atletico, since the end of last season, when the mandatory purchase condition was met, which is that the player played more than 50% of the matches.
But Griezmann played more than 50% of the matches in the first season (especially 81% of them), and therefore the Madridista club is obligated to buy him for 40 million euros.
The Blaugrana believes that activating the loan for a second season, would have been if the French player had not played 50% of the matches, in the first season, and therefore the second season is not interpreted as a loan.
Although Barcelona is considering suing Atletico for this reason, it is confident of reaching a solution with the Madridista that will serve both sides and avoid the long litigation path.
