Officially: Chelsea and Liverpool match postponed and new dates for the Premier League

The Premier League issued an official statement today, Monday, to announce the dates of the next round of the English Premier League, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

According to a statement from the League, the English Premier League matches will resume at the end of this week, after the last round was postponed.

The statement added: “7 of the 10 Premier League matches will take place this weekend, with 3 matches postponed due to events surrounding the Queen’s funeral.”

He added: “The postponed matches are (Chelsea vs Liverpool) at Stamford Bridge, (Manchester United at home against Leeds United), and (Brighton vs Crystal Palace).”

“After extensive consultations with clubs, police, local safety advisory groups, and other relevant authorities, there was no other option but to postpone the three matches,” the statement said.

He continued: “For the matches that will be played during the period of national mourning, the Queen will be honored in the Premier League stadiums.”

And he concluded: “New dates for the postponed matches will be announced in due course,” with the match schedule as follows: Friday, September 16: Aston Villa – Southampton. Nottingham Forest – Fulham. Saturday 17 September Wolverhampton – Manchester City. Newcastle – Bournemouth. Tottenham – Leicester City. Sunday 18 September Brentford – Arsenal. Everton – West Ham.
