Real Madrid’s Brazilian striker Rodrigo Goes set a record during the 3-2 defeat of Real Madrid against Leipzig, in the 5th round of the group stage of the Champions League.
Rodrygo scored the second goal for Real Madrid from a penalty kick awarded to his team in the 94th minute of the match.
According to the Opta statistics network, Rodrygo, at the age of 21 years and 289 days, became the youngest player to score from the penalty spot for Real Madrid in the Champions League, breaking Raul Gonzalez’s record.
Raul scored from the penalty spot against Ukraine’s Dynamo Kyiv in the match that took place in March 2000, when he was 22 years and 261 days old.
With this defeat, Real Madrid’s balance froze at 10 points at the top of Group F, while Leipzig raised its score to 9 points in second place.
