Spaniard Roberto Martinez led the Portuguese national football team, according to the official Twitter of the Portuguese national team.
The term of the agreement and the details of the contract with the 49-year-old specialist are not known.
Martinez replaced Fernando Santos at the head of the Portuguese team, who left the post after the World Cup in Qatar, where the Portuguese team lost in the 1/4 finals to Morocco.
Martinez led the Belgian national team at the World Cup and also left the team after an unsuccessful performance. The Belgian team failed to qualify from the group, leaving behind the team of Morocco and another future semi-finalist – the Croatian team.
Martinez has been coaching the Belgian national team since 2016 and won bronze medals with them at the 2018 World Championship in Russia. Before joining Belgium, Martinez coached English Premier League clubs Swansea City, Wigan Athletic, and Everton.
