Egypt‘s Al-Ahly beat New Zealand‘s Auckland City in the first round of the Club World Cup.
The meeting ended with a score of 3:0. Goals were scored by El-Shahat Hussein (45+2 minutes), Marwan Sherif (56), and Percy Taw (86).
In the seventh stoppage minute of the second half, Oakland defenseman Adam Mitchell was sent off.
Al-Ahly advanced to the second round of the tournament, where they will play with the American club Seattle Sounders. The winner of this pair will face Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
The Club World Cup takes place in Morocco from 1 to 11 February.
