The London club wasted no time taking control, as James Maddison opened the scoring just a minute into the match.
South Korean forward Son Heung-min doubled Tottenham’s advantage in the 12th minute, and Dejan Kulusevski extended the lead further with a third goal just two minutes later, putting Spurs firmly in command.
Pape Matar Sarr joined the scoring spree, netting Tottenham’s fourth goal in the 25th minute.
In the first minute of stoppage time, James Maddison struck again, securing his second goal of the match and Tottenham’s fifth.
With this emphatic win, Tottenham climbed to 23 points, moving into 10th place and notching their seventh victory of the season, bouncing back from a poor run of form that included a draw and two defeats in their previous three matches.
On the other hand, Southampton endured their third straight loss and 13th defeat of the Premier League season, leaving them rooted at the bottom of the table with just 5 points.
