Another stumble for Manchester City as they draw against Everton

Date:

Manchester City dropped more points in a frustrating 1-1 draw against Everton on Thursday, marking the start of the 18th round of the English Premier League.

City couldn’t make the most of Bernardo Silva’s early 14th-minute goal, as Everton equalized through Senegalese forward Eliamin N’Diaye in the 36th minute to secure a point. Following the draw, City now has 28 points, sitting in sixth place, while Everton remains in 15th with 17 points.

City began the match with a dominant offensive push in the opening five minutes. Gvardiol’s header struck the post, and Savinho’s shot was saved by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The hosts made their early dominance count when Bernardo Silva scored in the 14th minute, converting a pass from Jeremy Doku.

Everton’s defense, however, packed in tightly to thwart further chances from Foden, Savinho, and Doku. Haaland had two opportunities—his first attempt was saved by Pickford, while the second saw him dribble past the goalkeeper but was unable to score as Everton’s defense cleared the ball from danger.

Everton had limited attacking efforts, with midfielders Mangala and Idrissa Gueye both sending shots wide. Meanwhile, Silva squandered a clear chance in the 33rd minute, misfiring a shot while facing the goal without pressure.

City’s missed chances came back to haunt them when Eliamin N’Diaye equalized for Everton in the 36th minute. A cross from the right caught Akanji off-guard, and N’Diaye converted, leaving the first half tied at 1-1.

The second half started similarly to the first, with City attacking strongly. Pickford denied Savinho with a great save, and Kovacic’s shot went wide.

In the 53rd minute, Haaland had a chance to put City ahead with a penalty, but Pickford pulled off a crucial save. With the match still level, Guardiola brought on Kevin De Bruyne in place of Doku for the final 15 minutes, hoping to break the deadlock.

As the match wound down, Mangala had a shot deflect wide in the 83rd minute, and Rico Lewis fired over the bar in the 91st. Even with six minutes of stoppage time, City couldn’t secure a victory, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw against Everton.
