PSG Beats Man City 4-2 to Revive Champions League Hopes

PSG beats Man City to revive their hopes of advancing to the Champions League play-offs with a dramatic 4-2 win over Manchester City on Wednesday. The victory came after PSG found themselves 2-0 down, scoring four unanswered goals to take control of the match.

This result brings PSG’s points tally to 10, placing them in 22nd place. At the same time, Manchester City remains with 8 points, in 25th place, and could be eliminated from the competition one round before the first leg concludes.

A Slow Start and City’s Early Advantage

Both teams began the match by testing each other’s defences. PSG’s first significant chance came in the 10th minute when Joao Neves’ header sailed over the Manchester City goal. Manchester City responded swiftly with a close-range attempt by Kevin De Bruyne in the 13th minute, but PSG’s goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, saved it.

PSG nearly took the lead in the first half with a shot from Achraf Hakimi, but VAR ruled it out for offside in the build-up.

Manchester City Takes the Lead

City came out strong in the second half, taking a 2-0 lead in three minutes. First, Jack Grealish scored in the 50th minute after a deflected shot fell to him. Erling Haaland then doubled the lead in the 53rd minute, finishing off a rebound from a Grealish cross.

PSG Fights Back with Four Stunning Goals

However, PSG quickly responded, first reducing the deficit to 2-1 in the 56th minute. Bradley Barcola’s brilliant dribble set up Ousmane Dembele, who slotted it home. Just minutes later, PSG equalized in the 60th minute, with Barcola scoring after a rebound from Desiree Doh’s shot that hit the crossbar.

The pressure continued as PSG controlled the game. In the 71st minute, Dembele almost gave PSG the lead, hitting the bar after a brilliant dribble past City defenders.

Vital Goals in the Final Stages

Paris Saint-Germain’s relentless pursuit continued, and in the 78th minute, Joao Neves rose above the defence to head home a free kick from Vitinha, giving PSG a 3-2 lead. Although Dembele scored again in the 83rd minute, the goal was ruled offside. However, PSG wasn’t done yet.

In stoppage time, Goncalo Ramos scored a crucial fourth goal in the 90+3 minute. The goal was initially ruled out for offside, but VAR intervened and confirmed it after replays showed the ball had touched Josko Gvardiol before reaching Ramos.

PSG’s Remarkable Comeback Keeps Champions League Dream Alive

With this 4-2 victory, Paris Saint-Germain has a chance to advance in the Champions League, while Manchester City now faces a tough road ahead with just one match left in the first leg. The remarkable comeback showcased PSG’s resilience and determination as they kept their hopes alive.
