A brilliant win for Chelsea over Tottenham

Date:

The thrilling London derby between Tottenham and Chelsea concluded with the visitors securing a 4-3 victory on Sunday evening, in a highlight match of the Premier League’s 15th round.

Tottenham found the net through Dominic Solanke in the 5th minute, Dejan Kulusevski in the 11th, and Son Heung-min deep into stoppage time (90+6). Chelsea’s goals were scored by Jadon Sancho in the 17th minute, Cole Palmer, who converted two penalties in the 61st and 84th minutes, and Enzo Fernandez in the 73rd minute.

With this win, Chelsea climbed to 31 points, securing second place and moving two points ahead of Arsenal. Meanwhile, Tottenham remained at 20 points, holding 11th place on the league table.

The match began with high energy as Tottenham struck early in the fifth minute. Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella slipped, allowing Tottenham winger Brennan Johnson to seize the ball and set up Solanke, who slotted it into the net.

Tottenham doubled their lead just six minutes later. After another slip by Marc Cucurella, Brennan Johnson retrieved the ball and passed it to Pedro Porro, who found Kulusevski. The Swedish forward advanced and fired a precise shot from the edge of the penalty area into the bottom-left corner of Robert Sanchez’s goal.

Shortly after, Tottenham defender Cristian Romero had to leave the field due to an injury and was replaced by Radu Dragusin. Chelsea quickly responded in the 17th minute, with Jadon Sancho narrowing the gap. He received a pass from Cucurella, dribbled past a defender, and curled the ball toward the far post to beat Tottenham’s goalkeeper.

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min nearly restored their two-goal advantage in the 24th minute, but his effort flew over the crossbar.

In the 32nd minute, goalkeeper Fraser Forster made a crucial save for Tottenham, denying a powerful strike from Cole Palmer. The rebound fell to Pedro Neto, but Forster was quick to react and neutralized the threat.

Tottenham came close again in the 34th minute when Son’s corner kick was met by Pape Sarr, whose powerful header struck the crossbar.

Palmer then delivered a perfectly timed through ball to Senegalese teammate Nicolas Jackson, but Dragusin’s timely challenge denied Jackson a one-on-one opportunity in the 41st minute.

At halftime, Chelsea made a change, bringing on Malo Gusto to replace Romeo Lavia. Early in the second half, Sancho combined skillfully with Cucurella, but Forster was once again up to the task, saving Sancho’s attempt in the 48th minute.

Cucurella continued to be a creative force, this time setting up Enzo Fernandez, whose shot narrowly missed the target in the 52nd minute. Shortly after, Brennan Johnson left the field with an injury and was replaced by Timo Werner.

Chelsea equalized in the 61st minute after Yves Bissouma fouled Moises Caicedo in the box, resulting in a penalty. Cole Palmer confidently converted the spot-kick to level the score.

The visitors then took the lead in the 73rd minute when a deflected shot from Palmer fell to Enzo Fernandez, who struck it cleanly with a single touch to find the back of the net.

Christopher Nkunku replaced Nicolas Jackson in Chelsea’s lineup, and Palmer sealed the victory in the 84th minute with a composed “Panenka”-style penalty after being fouled by Pape Sarr.

Tottenham substitute James Maddison had a chance in stoppage time, breaking free from his marker to unleash a powerful shot that sailed over the bar. Moments later, he set up Son Heung-min, who faced off against goalkeeper Sanchez, but Sanchez skillfully narrowed the angle to block the attempt.

In the 90+6th minute, Maddison collected the ball in the left corner and delivered a perfect pass to Son, who smashed it into the net with a powerful strike.
