A late goal saves Juventus from the first defeat in the Serie A

Date:

Juventus managed to avoid their first loss in the Serie A, securing a dramatic 2-2 draw against Bologna at their Allianz Stadium in the 15th round of the competition.

Bologna initially took the lead with goals from Dan Ndoye and Tommaso Pobega in the 30th and 52nd minutes. However, Juventus fought back, equalizing through Teun Koopmeiners and Samuel Mbangula in the 62nd and 90+2nd minutes.

As a result, Juventus preserved their unbeaten streak, moving up to 27 points in sixth place, while Bologna earned 22 points, securing eighth place.

Juventus came out strong and created a promising chance just two minutes into the match. Koopmeiners played a pass to Fagioli, who made a run into the penalty area and opted to shoot. However, his effort was blocked by a defender, despite having three teammates nearby.

Bologna came close to taking the lead early in the match after a brilliant pass from Castro to Ndoye on the edge of the box. Ndoye struck a superb shot that narrowly missed, hitting the left post of Juventus’ goal.

In the 13th minute, Juventus coach Motta was forced to make an early substitution when Andrea Cambiasso suffered an ankle injury, and Jonas Rouhi replaced him.

Bologna earned a free-kick from the right, and Miranda took the shot, which deflected off the wall and sailed dangerously over goalkeeper Perin’s crossbar for a corner.

In the 30th minute, Bologna broke the deadlock when Ndoye capitalized on a brilliant pass from Holm deep in Juve’s defence. Ndoye fired a powerful shot that flew into the net, giving Bologna the lead.

Juventus nearly equalized immediately following an impressive solo effort from Conceicao, who slipped through a narrow space on the right before passing to Fagioli, whose shot went over the bar.

Just before the break, in the 45+2 minute, Juventus executed a well-worked set piece, with multiple passes leading to Vlahovic, who fired a volley on goal. However, Bologna’s goalkeeper, Skorupski, made a fantastic save, pushing the shot away from his goal.

The second half began at a slow pace, with neither side making significant moves in the opening minutes. However, the calm was disrupted when Juventus coach Thiago Motta received a red card in the 52nd minute for vehemently protesting a referee’s decision.

Moments later, Bologna extended their lead with a second goal. Pobega capitalized on a brilliant back-heel assist from Castro, who drew defender Gatti out of position, leaving Pobega one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Pobega coolly slotted the ball into the net, showcasing excellent composure.

With Juventus reeling, Bologna kept up their aggressive play. Castro unleashed a powerful long-range shot outside the box, but Perin managed to handle it comfortably.

The tide began to turn in the 62nd minute when Juventus cut the deficit. Koopmeiners found the back of the net after a sharp low cross from Danilo on the right, finishing with a precise strike as Bologna’s defence left him unmarked.

Bologna’s Dominguez nearly restored their two-goal cushion with a low drive from outside the penalty area, but Perin showed quick reflexes to make a double save.

In the dying moments of the game, substitute Mbangula rescued a point for Juventus. During a rapid counterattack in the 90+2 minute, Vlahovic delivered a pass outside the area to Mbangula, who fired a stunning, accurate shot past the Bologna goalkeeper. The thrilling match concluded in a 2-2 draw, with both sides sharing the spoils.
