Alonso told the Catalan club channel: “I am very happy to be here after my career was interspersed with talks on various occasions with Barca.”
He explained that he did not think of any other step other than moving to the Blaugrana, adding: “This is something I have wanted for a long time, and I think it is the right step forward in my career.”
The former Chelsea full-back pointed out his experiences, which will help him to support Barca and serve the team.
Young Marcos Alonso followed in the footsteps of his father, who had previously played for the Catalan team as well.
He said of it: “Playing for the team that my father succeeded in is a very special thing, and that was another reason for me to be here.”
And he concluded: “I am also happy with this step because it was not in our imagination, I still remember the moments when he would bring me to watch the matches at the Camp Nou, so I can’t believe I am here as a player.”
