Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is grappling with a growing injury crisis this season, as several key players have been sidelined.
Reports suggest that the club is planning to sign a new central defender in January, despite the current shortage of fully fit right-backs. According to Marca, Ancelotti will rely on the available options within the squad to cover the right-back position for the time being.
This comes after injuries to first-choice right-back Dani Carvajal and his backup, Lucas Vázquez.
The newspaper reported that Fede Valverde is set to become Real Madrid’s primary right-back in the coming period, following his solid performance in that role against Osasuna.
Valverde’s strong physical attributes and defensive commitment make him a reliable option for Ancelotti, even if it means sacrificing his usual influence in midfield to maintain defensive stability.
Additionally, Ancelotti is expected to promote Jesús Fortia from the youth team to serve as Valverde’s backup at right-back.
