Ancelotti: I understand Asensio’s anger… Benzema’s absence compensated us

Date:

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed his happiness with the victory (4-1) against Real Mallorca, on Sunday evening, in the fifth round of the Spanish League, in the Meringue stronghold, “Santiago Bernabeu”.

Real Madrid regained the top of the La Liga standings with 15 points, two points ahead of Barcelona, while Mallorca’s balance froze at 5 points in 13th place.

Ancelotti said, in his statements after the match, that the Spanish newspaper ” Marca ” reported: “The best between Valverde’s goal or Rodrygo? I like the three goals that were of good quality. Mallorca advanced in the result, then we tied and advanced, and the match became easier.”

He added, “The temperature was difficult. We conceded a goal with a free kick, kept our cool, and little by little we came back to the game.”

He continued, “There are many factors behind the victory, the first of which is the players’ genes, in addition to their ability to play with energy and speed, such as Rodrygo, Valverde, Camavinga, Modric, Chuamini, and the commitment they played with, they are very serious and work well.”

Asked if Valverde would be a leader in the future, he replied: “You are a leader when you become an example, and Fede is very, very important to us, and he is still humble and it will help him to be a leader in the future, and we have many leaders here.”

He noted: “Vinicius is a distinguished player, and his way of playing angers the opponent, he always tries to dribble, but these are things that happen in football, and with experience, he will learn.”

Regarding Asensio’s anger, he revealed: “I wanted to make two changes, and I was planning to pay Mariano and Asensio, but Lucas Vazquez was injured and we only had one change, and yes he is angry and I understand that because it is normal for him to seek to play.”

On changing the way of playing in the second half, he explained: “The idea was to remove Hazard from the center of the attack a little and to include others such as Valverde, Rodrygo, and sometimes Vincensus.”

He added, “Ceballos was more involved because there was not a lot of space, and Hazard tried to implement what was required of him, and it was a positive match for both.”

He concluded: “We are doing a very good job, and the team was able to compensate for Benzema’s absence, and we have gained an important confidence, and we hope to return soon.”
