Lionel Messi scored the first goal of the match in the 64th minute. Then midfielder Enzo Fernandez increased to the 87th score, and Messi scored an assist.

Argentina, thanks to the victory over Mexico, avoided an early exit from the 2022 World Cup. The team moved up to second place in Group D (3 points). The first place after the second round is occupied by Poland (4 points), the third – by Saudi Arabia (3 points), and Mexico – in the fourth (1 point).
