Barcelona announced that it had reached an agreement with its Danish striker, Martin Braithwaite, to terminate his contract, which was extended until the summer of 2024, to give the player the opportunity to join Espanyol.
Braithwaite joined Barcelona in 2020 from Leganes, and the 31-year-old played 58 games with Barca, scoring 10 goals over two and a half seasons.
“Barcelona expresses its gratitude to Braithwaite for his commitment and wishes him the best of luck and all the success in the future,” Barcelona said in a statement.
Braithwaite scored 5 goals and assisted 3 others in 44 matches in the Spanish League with Barcelona, and also scored 3 goals in the Champions League and two goals in the King’s Cup.
Braithwaite won the King’s Cup in the 2020-2021 season, after scoring the winning goal in extra time against Seville in the semi-finals at Camp Nou.
