A Spanish media outlet reported today, Saturday, on the expected transfer fee for Canadian striker Jonathan David, who is being linked with a move from Lille to Barcelona.
David’s contract with Lille is set to expire at the end of this season, allowing him the opportunity to sign with any club starting in January.
According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, despite his contract situation, Barcelona will still need to pay a transfer fee to secure the Canadian striker’s services.
David has expressed his affection for Barcelona and his aspiration to play for the Catalan club since his youth, even in the face of interest from several prominent European teams, including Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Inter, and Milan.
According to the newspaper, David’s move to Barcelona is expected to impose a financial burden of around 80 million euros on the club, which encompasses both the transfer fee and the player’s salary over a four-year period. During his tenure with Lille, David appeared in 202 matches across all competitions, netting 97 goals and contributing 20 assists.
