Barcelona’s management is still eagerly awaiting a resolution to the ongoing crisis surrounding the registration of two key players, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. The club is facing financial constraints and strict salary cap regulations, which have made it difficult for them to officially register the duo for competitive matches. As Barcelona works to balance its finances and comply with La Liga’s regulations
If Dani Olmo and Pau Victor are not registered by Tuesday, they will be free to leave Barcelona on January 1.
As reported by the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo,” a judge from the Court of First Instance in Spain, like the decision made last Friday by the Commercial Court, dismissed the precautionary measures that Barcelona had filed to register Olmo and Victor.
This means that Barcelona will not be able to pursue the judicial route to register its players.
The newspaper further noted that during the ruling, the judge criticized Barcelona’s claim that the Delegates Committee lacked jurisdiction, as it had voted in favour of all the recent economic policy reforms. The judge now deems the Committee legally incompetent in this case.
La Liga expressed its relief at the court’s decision in a public statement.
Barcelona had been somewhat doubtful about the possibility of the judge allowing the registration of both players after the previous rejection. Now that precautionary measures have been dismissed, the club must proceed with alternative methods.
According to the report, the most likely and viable option at this point is to sell VIP boxes, a step that Barcelona has made considerable progress on. Joan Laporta has reached an agreement with investors in Dubai to sell these boxes for 100 million euros, a sum that will enable the club to register Olmo and Victor and comply with the 1:1 rule for new contracts.
Barcelona is currently submitting all necessary documents related to this agreement to La Liga, especially those showing the payment of the 100 million euros. If everything goes according to plan, the club will be able to register the players. However, time is running out, as this must be completed before 11:59 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, December 31.
