Bayern Munich extended their winning run in Europe by securing a dominant 5-1 victory over Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night. The match, part of the Champions League’s sixth round, took place at the Veltins Arena.
Bayern Munich’s five goals came from Konrad Laimer (11′), Thomas Müller (45′), Michael Oliseh (70′ and 93′), and Jamal Musiala (87′). Shakhtar Donetsk’s sole goal was netted by Kevin de Macedo in the 5th minute.
As a result, Bayern Munich moved up to 12 points, climbing to eighth place, while Shakhtar remained stuck at 4 points, occupying 26th place
Shakhtar took an early lead in the 5th minute when Kevin de Macedo latched onto a through ball from Zubkov, evaded Kim inside the box, and fired a stunning curling shot into the net.
Bayern responded swiftly, equalizing in the 11th minute. Müller sent a ball into the area, and though Gramm attempted to clear it, it fell to Laimer, who powered a shot past the keeper into the net.
Shakhtar nearly regained the lead just a minute later, in the 12th, when Bondarenko fired a shot from the edge of the area, but it sailed wide of the post.
In the 17th minute, Sane tested Shakhtar’s goalkeeper Reznik with a shot from outside the box, which was comfortably saved.
After a quiet period, Bayern had another chance in the 31st minute. Oliseh took a shot from outside the area, but it went wide of the target.
