Today, February 15, ended the match of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League, in which Borussia Dortmund hosted Chelsea. The teams met at the Signal Iduna Park stadium. The starting whistle of the chief referee Jesús Gil Manzano sounded at 20.00 GMT.
The teams ended the first half without goals. In total, both clubs struck 15 shots on goal, but they all flew past the target. The only dangerous moment came in the 38th minute when Chelsea’s João Felix hit the crossbar.
In the second half, Chelsea held the initiative for a while, until Borussia converted one of their counterattacks. It happened in the 63rd minute, when Borussia striker Karim Adeyemi swept across the entire half of the Londoners’ field, first beating Enzo Fernandez, then goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, after which he accurately struck an empty goal. In the remaining minutes, the Blues tried to convert their many chances and change the course of the meeting, but Dortmund managed to resist the onslaught of the Graham Potter players.
The meeting ended with a minimal victory for the “bumblebees” with a score of 1:0. The return match in London will take place on March 7, starting at 20.00 GMT.
