The meeting ended with the score 2:0. One of the main heroes of the meeting was Kai Havertz, who in the 16th minute opened the scoring with a pass from Raheem Sterling, and eight minutes later assisted Mason Mount.
Chelsea snapped a three-game losing streak to move up to eighth in the Premier League table with 24 points, while Bournemouth (16) are in 14th place.
In the next round, Bournemouth will host Crystal Palace on December 31, and Chelsea will go on a visit to Nottingham Forest on January 1.
