Chelsea Beat Wolves 3-1 to End Winless Run in Premier League
Chelsea ended their five-match winless run in the Premier League with a crucial 3-1 victory over Wolves on Monday night. The win was vital for Chelsea, who had recently dropped out of the Champions League qualification spots. This victory saw them climb back above fifth-place Manchester City, ahead of their upcoming trip to the Etihad Stadium.
Early Lead for Chelsea, Wolves Equalize Just Before Half-Time
The match started with Chelsea dominating possession. In the 27th minute, Reece James fired a shot following a corner, which Tosin swiftly finished into the net. Initially ruled offside, the goal was confirmed after a VAR review, giving Chelsea a 1-0 lead.
Despite their control, Chelsea conceded an equalizer in first-half stoppage time. Wolves’ Matheus Cunha sent a corner kick to the near post, which goalkeeper Robert Sanchez dropped. Matt Doherty reacted quickly to score, levelling the match at 1-1 before the break.
Chelsea Regains the Lead in the Second Half
In the second half, Chelsea responded positively. On the hour mark, Noni Madueke sent in a deep cross that was flicked on by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Marc Cucurella, who scrambled it over the line to give Chelsea a 2-1 advantage.
Madueke Seals the Win for Chelsea
Chelsea added a third goal in the 69th minute. Cole Palmer’s free-kick was headed down by Trevoh Chalobah, and Madueke was in the right place to convert it over the line, making it 3-1.
Disallowed Goal and Full-Time Whistle
Chelsea thought they had added a fourth goal when Nicolas Jackson finished a through ball from Palmer. However, the goal was ruled offside by the referee, and VAR confirmed the decision. Despite this, Chelsea held on to their 3-1 lead and ended their winless streak with a solid victory over Wolves.
