Croatia beat Morocco and won bronze at the World Cup in Qatar

Date:

The Croatian national football team defeated the Moroccan team in the match for third place in the World Cup in Qatar.
The meeting, held at the Khalifa Stadium in Doha in the presence of 44,137 fans, ended with a score of 2:1.
As part of the Croatian team, goals were scored by Joshko Guardiol (7th minute) and Mislav Orsic (42nd minute). The Moroccans scored Ashraf Dari in the ninth minute.
Guardiol became the youngest goal scorer for Croatia at the World Cup. The 20-year-old defender surpassed the achievement of ex- CSKA striker Ivica Olic (2002). The captain of the Croatian national team Luka Modric played all the matches at the tournament in Qatar. Previously, only goalkeepers played seven matches at one world championship at the age of at least 37 years.
The Croatian national team won the bronze medal of the world championship for the second time. For the first time, this team became the third at the 1998 World Cup in France. The highest achievement of the Croats is the silver medal of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The Moroccans became the first African team in the history of the World Cup, which managed to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. Previously, the best result of the teams from this continent was the quarter-finals.
The Moroccan team could have been the first non-European and South American team since 1930 to win bronze medals at the World Cup. At the first World Cup in history, the Americans took third place. Qatar became the first Arab and Muslim country to receive the right to host the World Cup.
The final meeting of the tournament between the national teams of Argentina and France will be held on December 18 at the stadium “Lusail Ikonik”.
