FFF President Noel Le Grae has announced that he will face France head coach Didier Deschamps next week. The current contract of the 54-year-old specialist ends on December 31, 2022.
“He has the right to an extension, because I said this back when we were in the top four teams in the World Cup, so the decision is up to him. I think we will come to an agreement, ”Le Grae quotes Ouest-France as saying.
According to the source, the FFF hopes to extend the agreement with the coach until the end of the year until Euro 2024.
Deschamps has been in charge of the national team since July 2012. In ten years, the French have become world champions (2018), winners of the League of Nations (2021), and silver medalists in two tournaments: the European Championship (2016) and the World Cup (2022).
On December 18, the French team lost to the Argentine team (3:3, 2:4 – on penalties) in the final of the World Cup in Qatar. After the game, French President Emmanuel Macron asked Deschamps to remain as head coach of the national team.
