Gareth Bale announces his retirement

Welsh striker Gareth Bale announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 33.

“After much thought, I announce the end of my club and international career. I am incredibly lucky to realize my dream and play the sport that I love. Now I’m moving on to a new chapter in my life. It’s time for change and opportunity for new adventures,” Bale wrote.

The last club in Bale’s career was Los Angeles. Previously, the footballer played for Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, and Real Madrid. As part of the Spanish club, Bale won the UEFA Champions League five times. Bale played for Wales at the 2022 World Cup. The Welsh finished last in Group B and failed to qualify for the next stage of the tournament.
