Guardiola Coaching Break Looms After Man City Exit
Pep Guardiola has confirmed he will take a coaching break after his contract with Manchester City ends, though he remains undecided whether it will be temporary or permanent. The Spanish manager extended his deal with City last November, but has openly discussed the idea of stepping away from the game once his current tenure concludes.
In an interview with ESPN Brasil, Guardiola’s coaching break was addressed clearly:
“After my contract with Manchester City ends, I will stop coaching. I’m sure of it. “I’m not certain if it will be a full retirement, but I do know I’ll be stepping away for a while.”
Guardiola Reflects on the Demands of Coaching
The City boss reflected on the ups and downs of life in the dugout, emphasizing that the profession comes with both glory and pressure.
“In the coaching profession, there are good and bad. The important thing is that the good ones are remembered for a longer period. There are new challenges as a coach, and I don’t know what will happen in the future. In the end, it doesn’t matter.”
Guardiola took a similar sabbatical after leaving Barcelona in 2012, before joining Bayern Munich a year later. This time, however, the Guardiola coaching break could be more prolonged or even final.
A Year of Lessons
Reflecting on the current campaign, Guardiola admitted it had been a year full of personal learning.
“I knew we would fall at some point, but we fell too many times.”
He concluded with a look toward the future:
“Now we have to sit together, learn, and try to understand what we need to offer in the future.”
