The former Dutch star, Ruud Gullit, said that the Portuguese striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, may have regretted returning to Manchester United and that he would most likely want in the 2022 World Cup to prove his quality as a player.
“I think he (Ronaldo) was expecting to do better than that, and that’s exactly why he’s going to want to prove to everyone who criticized him at Manchester United how valuable he is… I think that’s his quest.”
Gullit, who led Chelsea to the FA Cup title in 1997, said Manchester United coach Eric Ten Hag had to adapt quickly to English football if he wanted to succeed.
He continued, “If you come with a Dutch mentality to England, things will be difficult for you. You have to adapt, you have to understand that winning matches does not come through football only, as there is a need for strength and energy.”
Gullit, on the other hand, considered that Man United in recent years ”
And he added, “They live stuck in the past, and they talk a lot about the team of the nineties. Now the players want to move to Liverpool, Manchester City or Chelsea. Man United is not what it was, so they have to change their minds.”
