Hojlund Rescues a Point for Man United With Dramatic Late Goal Against Bournemouth

Manchester United’s struggles continued as they salvaged a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth on Sunday evening at Vitality Stadium, in the 34th round of the Premier League. Hojlund rescues a point for United deep into stoppage time, keeping hopes alive but extending their winless run.

Antoine Semenyo fired Bournemouth into the lead in the 23rd minute, but it was Rasmus Hojlund who emerged as the savior, netting a dramatic equalizer in the 96th minute.

This result leaves United in 14th place with 39 points, while Bournemouth climbed to 50 points, sitting comfortably in tenth.

Early Chances and Bournemouth’s Breakthrough

Manchester United threatened early through Mainoo, who weaved past defenders before forcing a save from Kepa in the 10th minute. Bournemouth responded moments later with a wayward shot from Justin Kluivert.

Garnacho also came close for United but narrowly missed the post with a fierce effort.
However, it was Bournemouth who struck first. A clever backheel by Evanilson set up Semenyo inside the box, who made no mistake, firing past Onana to put the hosts ahead.

United nearly responded before halftime, but Garnacho’s chipped effort was brilliantly denied by Kepa. Despite multiple chances, United went into the break trailing 1-0.

Bournemouth Push for a Second

The hosts came out strongly in the second half, almost doubling their advantage through another curling effort from Semenyo that just missed the target.

Bournemouth also rattled the woodwork from a clever free-kick by Dangoh, keeping United on edge. Meanwhile, Maguire’s weak header and Bruno Fernandes’ crosses offered little threat.

A major turning point arrived in the 70th minute when Evanilson was shown a red card for a reckless tackle on Mazraoui after a VAR review, reducing Bournemouth to 10 men.

Hojlund Rescues a Point in Stoppage Time

United piled on the pressure as the clock ticked down. Fernandes and Shaw both came agonizingly close to leveling, but it seemed like frustration would continue for Erik ten Hag’s men.

Finally, in the sixth minute of added time, Hojlund rescues a point for United. The Danish striker reacted quickly to deflect Ugarte’s shot into the net, earning his side a precious draw.

Despite the dramatic finish, it marked Manchester United’s fifth straight Premier League match without a win — a worrying trend as the season approaches its climax.
