The Federal Court of Appeal imposed a fine on Juventus Turin in the form of depriving the team of 15 points in the current Italian championship in the case of financial violations, according to the website of the Italian Football Federation.
The court partially granted the appeal of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office to partially set aside the decision of the Federal Court of Appeal of May 27 last year, providing for sanctions against Juventus.
In the standings of the current Italian championship, Juventus will move from third to 11th place.
Also disqualified received 11 people from the former management of Juventus. Former club director Fabio Paratici was suspended for 30 months, ex-president Andrea Agnelli and ex-director Maurizio Arrivabene – for 24 months each, ex-directors Pavel Nedved and Paolo Garimberti – for 8 months. The former board of directors, headed by Agnelli, resigned at the end of November.
Juventus were under investigation for overstating transfer amounts in order to generate capital gains. Investigators studied the club’s financial statements for 2018, 2019, and 2020. In addition, the prosecutor’s office of Turin investigated the situation with the payment of wages to players for four months in 2020.
Juventus will play the next match in the Italian championship at home on Sunday against Atalanta.
