Juventus came from behind to secure a commanding 4-1 victory over Empoli on Sunday at the Allianz Stadium in the 23rd round of the Italian Serie A.
Early Lead for Empoli
Empoli took an early lead in the match, scoring the opening goal in the 4th minute. Mattia De Sciglio, a former Juventus player, punished his old club by heading in a corner kick that evaded everyone in the box. Empoli’s quick strike put Juventus under early pressure.
Juventus Responds with Kolo Muani’s Brace
Despite the setback, Juventus bounced back in the second half. Their new star, Kolo Muani, was the hero as he scored two goals in quick succession. The first came in the 61st minute when he beat the Empoli defense and slotted the ball into the net. Just three minutes later, Muani was at it again. A shot from Timothy Weah deflected off Muani and into the goal, giving Juventus a 2-1 lead.
Empoli’s Late Struggles
Empoli’s chances were further dampened when they were reduced to 10 men in the 84th minute, following Youssef Maleh’s second yellow card. With less than 10 minutes left, Juventus took full advantage of the extra man.
Vlahovic and Conceicao Seal the Win
“la Vecchia Signora” sealed the win with two more goals in stoppage time. Dusan Vlahovic scored the third in the 90th minute, intercepting the ball at midfield before firing a powerful shot into the net. Francisco Conceicao followed suit in the 90+2 minute, securing the fourth goal and completing the 4-1 victory for Juventus.
Juve Climbs to Fourth Place
With this victory, Juve moved to 40 points, climbing to fourth place in the Serie A standings. Meanwhile, Empoli remained in 17th place with 21 points, continuing their fight to avoid relegation.
