Juventus snatched an exciting 2-2 draw against Venezia at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday evening in the 16th round of the Italian Serie A.

Juventus’ goals came from Gatti and Vlahovic in the 19th and 90+4th minutes, respectively, while Venezia responded with goals from Mikael Ellertson and Jay Edzis in the 61st and 83rd minutes.

As a result, Juventus increased their tally to 28 points, remaining in sixth place, while Venezia stayed at the bottom of the table with 10 points.

Juventus dominated possession early in the match, and in the 12th minute, Vlahovic had a chance to score from a 25-meter free kick, but his shot sailed over the bar.

In the 19th minute, Juventus broke the deadlock with a goal from a corner kick taken by Koopmeiners. Thuram met the ball with a header at the far post, and Gatti was quick to follow it up, slotting it into the net to give Juventus the lead.

Venezia came close to equalizing in the 30th minute when Andersen fired a powerful shot from the edge of the area. The ball struck the crossbar and went out of play, keeping Juventus in the lead.

Just a minute later, the visitors had another dangerous chance from a corner kick. The ball reached Bosio in front of goal, unmarked, but Thuram made a vital defensive intervention to prevent the shot.

Venezia was forced into an early substitution in the 32nd minute after Svoboda was injured, with Altari coming on to replace him.

Juventus seemed to have doubled their lead at the start of the second half through Yildiz, who headed in a corner kick delivered by Thuram. However, referee Antonio Gia reviewed the situation via video assistant technology and ruled the goal out for a handball by Yildiz.

Thuram then had a long-range attempt that sailed over goalkeeper Stankovic’s crossbar, and Yildiz later had another opportunity, dribbling into the area, but his shot was saved by the Venezia goalkeeper.

Venezia equalized in the 61st minute when Ellertson rose above the Juventus defence to meet Zampano’s cross with a header that found its way into Di Gregorio’s net.

The most dangerous opportunity of the match came in the 67th minute when Vlahovic made a powerful run down the left and unleashed a missile towards goal. The ball deflected off the defence and headed toward the goal, but Stankovic’s quick reflexes denied Juve a second goal.

In the 83rd minute, Venezia managed to take the lead. Nicolasci delivered a well-taken free-kick into the area, and Idris met it with a perfectly executed header that found the back of the net.

Juve had a chance to equalize before the end of regular time when Conceicao sent in a cross that was cleared by the defence. Douglas Luiz then met the ball with a superb scissors kick, but it narrowly missed the post.

Just before the final whistle, the referee awarded a penalty to Juventus for a handball by Candela. Vlahovic stepped up to take the penalty and confidently scored the equalizer, resulting in a 2-2 draw to end the match.
