Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp revealed today, Thursday, his work on forming a striking attacking duo, consisting of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez.
Nunez scored his fifth goal with Liverpool since his arrival from Benfica, last summer, during yesterday’s victory over West Ham (1-0) in the Premier League.
And the German coach hinted at the possibility of relying on Salah and Nunez in the front line, instead of playing with one outspoken striker.
And about the extent to which Salah was affected by playing on the right side during yesterday’s match, Klopp said in statements to the British “Liverpool Echo” website: “Not at all, it is only about our need to defend all of us… In turn, Mo needs to defend differently than he was providing in the past.”
He added: “There is a chance that Darwin and Mo (Salah) will play in the heart, and that will be very fast… But we have to get to that idea somehow, we are still trying to develop this kind of system, and we will see if it is good for certain matches.”
And he added: “Mo could play in 10 positions, and he was playing consistently in the heart (despite starting on the right side). It was no different for Salah in the offensive part this season, but there is a small difference in the defensive aspects that he does.”
