President of the French Football Federation (FFF) Noel Le Grey was removed from his post at an extraordinary meeting of the executive committee, the official website of the organization reports.
Le Grey resigned as head of the FFF before the publication of the results of the audit conducted in the body. Philippe Diallo will temporarily act as president of the federation.
Earlier, Le Grey spoke sharply about the possibility of appointing Zinedine Zidane as head coach of the French national team. He stated that he “wouldn’t even pick up the phone if Zidane called”. The statements provoked public condemnation, in particular, Le Grey was criticized by Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid, as well as a number of French officials. Le Grey subsequently apologized to the coach. In addition, football agent Sonia Suid accused Le Grey of sexual harassment.
Le Grey, 81, has been president of the FFF since June 18, 2011. From 1991 to 2000 he was president of the French Ligue 1.
