LeBron James now holds the NBA record for most points scored, surpassing Abdul-Jabbar

LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers forward, now holds the NBA record for most career points, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

LeBron had to score 36 points in the matchup with Oklahoma in the regular season. The 38-year-old player rewrote the record at the end of the third quarter.

James has now scored 38,388 NBA regular-season points, surpassing Abdul-Jabbar’s 34-year record.

With 38,387 points, Abdul-Jabbar officially retired in 1989.

Kobe Bryant (33,643), Michael Jordan (32,292), and Karl Malone (36,928) round out the top five in NBA regular season scoring.
