Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has commended the work of Hansi Flick, the club’s coach, since he took charge last summer.
“Everyone at the club is in better condition; as players, we’re performing at a high level and feeling stronger,” Lewandowski told The Athletic. “Thanks to our physical preparation, we no longer have to focus on maintaining the physical intensity of the match. Instead, we can concentrate on how to outplay our opponents. We’re confident in our current shape, with the strength and energy to execute what’s required.”
“When I found out Hansi was joining Barça, I was really excited because I knew what to expect. Having worked with him before, we don’t need to say much to understand each other. We have a strong connection, and our communication is effortless,” he explained.
“When he explains something, I immediately understand his approach and how he wants us to play, and that’s something I really value.”
“Flick is very straightforward and fair, even with those who aren’t playing. He takes the time to speak with you and be honest, which helps players appreciate his decisions. When you’re dealing with someone so genuine, it’s easier to accept their choices.”
As for his future at Barça, he said: “I don’t like to make long-term plans. I’m in great shape now, but in two or three years, I might not feel like playing at the top level anymore. At my age, anything can happen. But right now, I’m exactly where I always wanted to be.”
