Arne Slot Rotates Squad, Resting Key Players for FA Cup Clash

Manager Arne Slot made several changes to the lineup, resting key players like Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, while giving substitutes a chance to shine.

The first real chance came in the seventh minute. Harvey Elliott delivered a cross into the box for Darwin Nunez, but the striker sent it wide.

Liverpool kept pressing, with Kostas Tsimikas and Dominik Szoboszlai combining to set up Alexander-Arnold. The full-back’s shot was saved with the goalkeeper’s foot, and Nunez’s follow-up went over the bar.

Liverpool’s Early Chances and Breakthrough Goal by Jota

In the 29th minute, Liverpool broke the deadlock. Nunez made a perfect pass to Jota, who calmly finished from close range.

Elliott tested the goalkeeper with a straightforward shot in the 37th minute, but the keeper collected it easily. Three minutes later, Tyler Morton tried his luck from a distance but missed the target.

Right before halftime, Alexander-Arnold doubled Liverpool’s lead with a pinpoint shot into the top corner, making it 2-0.

In the second half, Federico Chiesa replaced Szoboszlai, and Nunez had another chance to score, but the Accrington goalkeeper made a solid save.

Accrington Stanley’s Near Miss and Chiesa’s Late Goal Seal the Victory

Accrington nearly pulled one back in the 57th minute when Woods cut in from the left and fired a powerful shot that hit the crossbar.

Chiesa then had a great chance in the 74th minute but was denied from a tight angle by the goalkeeper.

In the 76th minute, substitute Jayden Duns tapped in the rebound after blocking Chiesa’s shot. Chiesa’s frustration continued when his shot hit the post, but he finally got his goal in the 90th minute. His shot bounced off the left post and into the net, completing the 4-0 win.
