On Saturday, the English Premier League officially announced the postponement of the highly anticipated clash between Liverpool and Everton, originally scheduled for the 15th round of fixtures.
The postponement was prompted by Storm Dara, which continues to disrupt England’s sporting calendar.
As the British newspaper Mirror reported, the Met Office issued warnings about severe winds, raising safety concerns. This decision also delays what would have been the final Merseyside derby hosted at Goodison Park, marking an end to an era for the historic venue.
Everton shared the news on their social media platforms, stating: “Today’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.”
On Friday night, Everton and Liverpool issued a joint statement urging fans to be cautious with travel plans, as they had expected the match to go ahead as planned, but with the weather conditions worsening, postponing the match became an unavoidable decision.
