Manchester City Edges Past Bournemouth to Reach FA Cup Semi-Finals

Manchester City booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday evening. A second-half comeback, fueled by goals from Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush, ensured City’s progression, where they will now face Nottingham Forest for a spot in the final.

First Half: Bournemouth Takes Early Lead

Bournemouth stunned the Etihad crowd in the 21st minute when Evanilson tapped in a cross from David Brooks, giving the visitors a surprise lead. Earlier, City missed a golden opportunity when Haaland’s penalty—awarded after a Tyler Adams handball—was saved by Bournemouth’s goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Second Half: Haaland and Marmoush Seal Comeback

Pep Guardiola’s side responded strongly after the break. Haaland redeemed himself in the 49th minute, slotting home a low cross from substitute Matt O’Reilly to level the score.

Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, who replaced an injured Haaland, made an immediate impact. In the 63rd minute, he calmly finished a clever pass from O’Reilly to put City ahead. Jack Grealish later came close to extending the lead, but his setup for Ilkay Gundogan struck the post.

Final Whistle: City March On

Despite late pressure from Bournemouth, City held firm to secure a 2-1 win. The victory keeps their FA Cup semi-finals dream alive as they prepare for a crucial clash against Nottingham Forest.
