Manchester City aims to safeguard its star, The norwegian striker, Erling Haaland, from the interest of the top European clubs by offering him a contract extension for the maximum duration.
The British newspaper “Mirror” reports that the English club is highly optimistic about Haaland signing a new contract soon. It has been noted that officials from City have engaged in discussions with the representatives of the Norwegian international, aiming to finalize an agreement for a new contract that would extend his tenure until the summer of 2029.
Haaland’s new contract will see him earn £500,000 per week, making him the highest-paid player in the Premier League. The 24-year-old will surpass his Belgian teammate Kevin De Bruyne, who currently earns £400,000 a week. According to The Mirror, while Haaland will rank among the highest-paid players in Europe, he will not surpass Frenkie de Jong, whose £600,000 weekly wage at Barcelona remains higher. The young striker has been with Manchester City for two and a half seasons, having joined from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022 for a £60 million fee.
