Manchester City Dominates in FA Cup, Advancing to the Fourth Round
Manchester City cruised into the FA Cup fourth round with an 8-0 victory over Salford City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The hosts took control early, ending the first half with a 3-0 lead, courtesy of goals from Jeremy Doku (8′), Devin Mubamah (20′), and Nico O’Reilly (43′).
In the second half, Jack Grealish extended the lead with a penalty in the 49th minute. James McAtee then completed a hat-trick, scoring in the 62nd, 72nd, and 81st minutes, while Doku converted another penalty in the 69th minute to make it 6-0.
Stoke City and Burnley Advance After Extra Time Victories
Elsewhere, Stoke City progressed with a 2-1 extra-time win over Sunderland. Thomas Cannon and Niall Ennis found the net for Stoke in the 4th and 112th minutes, while Milan Aleksic scored Sunderland’s only goal in the 64th minute.
Burnley also advanced after a 3-1 extra-time win against Reading. Lyle Foster and Zian Fleming scored in the 71st, 100th, and 109th minutes, while Lewis Wing scored Reading’s lone goal in the 77th minute.
Leeds United and Coventry City Secure Narrow Wins
Leeds United narrowly defeated Harrogate Town, with Largie Ramazani scoring the only goal in the 59th minute.
Coventry City advanced with a 4-3 win on penalties over Sheffield Wednesday after a 1-1 draw in both regular and extra time. Liam Kitching had given Coventry the lead in the 26th minute, but Sheffield Wednesday equalized in injury time with a goal from Anthony Masaba (93′).
Luton Orient vs. Derby County Postponed Due to Snow
Meanwhile, the match between Luton Orient and Derby County was postponed due to heavy snowfall, with the game rescheduled for next Tuesday, January 14.
