Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed his pride and gratitude for the opportunity to work with Cole Palmer, following the 22-year-old’s instrumental role in lifting Chelsea to second place in the Premier League.
The England forward has emerged as a standout performer in a youthful Chelsea squad. As the season nears its halfway mark, Chelsea has established itself as the main challenger to league leaders Liverpool.
Palmer has been a key contributor, leading the team with 11 goals in 15 matches and registering six assists.
“I’m genuinely honoured to work with Palmer and, truthfully, I feel privileged to work with all the players in this squad,” Maresca shared.
“Palmer has a unique quality that sets him apart, but Chelsea is fortunate to have an array of exceptionally talented players. As a manager, it’s both gratifying and humbling to lead a team like this.”
Chelsea is set to host Brentford on Sunday, aiming to keep the pressure on Liverpool under Arne Slot while solidifying their pursuit of a Champions League berth.
Currently, the Blues occupy second place in the Premier League standings, holding a two-point advantage over third-placed Arsenal and fourth-placed Manchester City.
When questioned about Palmer’s status as the top player in England right now, Maresca remarked, “He certainly could be. England is blessed with an abundance of talented players, and Palmer is undoubtedly among them. The Premier League is overflowing with world-class talent.”
He continued, “Palmer has the potential to reach world-class status, no question. But at just 22 years old, he still has plenty of areas to develop and refine his game.”
