Mbappe breaks Messi’s Champions League record

PSG striker Kylian Mbappe has become the youngest player to reach 40 goals, according to a tweet from Opta Sports.

The French forward achieved this at the age of 23 years, 10 months, and 13 days. By this indicator, Mbappe broke the record of his teammate, Argentine forward Lionel Messi, who scored 40 goals in the Champions League at the age of 24 years, four months, and eight days.

Recall that PSG defeated Juventus in the final round of the Champions League group stage. At the end of the group stage, the team finished second with 14 points. The Parisians missed Benfica in front of them, which also scored 14 points. In the group stage of the Champions League this season, Mbappe played six matches in which he scored seven goals.
