Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe considered his continuation with the French team as an adventure, in light of his quest to win the Ballon d’Or.
Mbappe said, during an interview with the French magazine “France Football “, “Real Madrid is a machine for players to win the Ballon d’Or. We must admit that this is a reality…but the most important thing remains the player himself, and his performance on the field.”
He added: “The club or team will not bring the Golden Ball, but the level and dedication of the player .. and I am still convinced that I can win it one day in Paris.”
He pointed to the need to change the criteria for winning the Ballon d’Or, saying: “The award should go to the decisive player, even if his team is inferior… Few players can make the difference almost alone.”
“Confession”
He continued: “I admit that I am thinking and seeking to win the Ballon d’Or, and I will do my best in the coming period, to attract everyone’s attention before voting… and that will be a great motivation for me, in a long and hard season.”
And the French striker continued, “Finding the motivation is very important, and the race for the Golden Ball is one of the challenges of course… But if I won the World Cup 3 times, and the Champions League, I think that no one will judge my career as a failure, if I do not win the Golden Ball.”
When asked about the history of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo with the prestigious award, and who is the best between them, the PSG top scorer replied: “A misplaced question… It is like asking who is better, father or mother.”
And he concluded: “There are clear criteria, no one infiltrated to win the award or seize it, but everyone left a mark and an impact in the history of football… It may be a matter of controversy in some years, but the value of these stars cannot be questioned.”
