Mbappé Shines as Real Madrid Beat Villarreal to Top La Liga
Kylian Mbappé was the star of the show as Real Madrid triumphed 2-1 over Villarreal in La Liga’s 28th round on Saturday evening. The French forward scored both of Real Madrid’s goals, guiding them to the top of the La Liga table with an important victory.
Villarreal Takes an Early Lead
The match began with Villarreal putting pressure on Real Madrid. In the 7th minute, Juan Foyth capitalized on a rebound from Aurelien Tchouaméni inside the penalty area, firing past Thibaut Courtois to give the home side an early 1-0 lead.
Mbappé Shines with Two Quick Goals
Real Madrid responded quickly with Kylian Mbappé leveling the score in the 17th minute. After Brahim Diaz’s shot was saved by Villarreal goalkeeper Koundé, the ball fell to Mbappé, who slotted it into the net.
Just six minutes later, Mbappé was on target again. In the 23rd minute, he received a perfect cross from Lucas Vázquez and fired it into the far corner, giving Real Madrid a 2-1 lead.

Both teams continued to create opportunities. In the 30th minute, Rodrygo exchanged passes with Mbappé before shooting inside the area, but his attempt hit the side of Koundé’s net. Rodrygo also had another chance in the 43rd minute, but his shot from outside the box was easily collected by Koundé.
In the second half, Villarreal’s Barry came close in the 48th minute when his shot hit the crossbar. Juan Foyth also had a chance in the 53rd minute but volleyed the ball over the bar.

Thibaut Courtois played a key role in Real Madrid’s victory, with several crucial saves. In the 58th minute, Courtois denied a powerful shot from Baena. Real Madrid also appealed for a penalty in the 67th minute when Villarreal’s Pedraza handled the ball in the penalty area, but the referee waved play on.
Late Drama but Real Madrid Holds Firm
Villarreal continued to push for an equalizer, and in the 83rd minute, Ayoze Pérez nearly found the back of the net, but his shot went over the bar. Despite the late pressure, Real Madrid held on to secure a 2-1 win, taking all three points and moving to the top of the La Liga table.
