Messi and PSG reach verbal agreement to extend contract

Date:

Forward Lionel Messi is ready to stay at PSG for at least another season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the parties have reached a verbal agreement to extend the contract, which expires in the summer of 2023. The terms of the agreement and the salary will be discussed in the near future at a new meeting.

It is also reported that Messi never accepted an offer from Inter Miami and did not negotiate with Barcelona. Both clubs approached him, but the matter never progressed.

The 35-year-old striker has made 19 appearances for PSG in all competitions this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists.

Messi won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, beating France 3-3, 4-2 on penalties in the final. He was recognized as the best player of the tournament in Qatar.
