Milan gets back to winning ways over Empoli

Date:

Milan bounced back from two consecutive draws, securing a 3-0 victory over Empoli on Saturday evening at the San Siro stadium in the 13th round of Serie A.

Milan’s 3-0 victory was sealed with a first-half goal from Álvaro Morata in the 19th minute, followed by a brace from Tiani Renders, who scored in the 44th and 69th minutes.

The win lifted the Rossoneri to 22 points, moving them up to seventh place in the standings, while Empoli remained on 16 points, sitting in tenth place.

Milan dominated possession from the outset, and their first real chance came in the 14th minute when Álvaro Morata received a pass deep in the defence, broke free, and unleashed a low shot that narrowly missed the left post.

In the following minutes, Milan midfielder Tiani Reinders tested the Empoli defence with a powerful shot from outside the box. The ball was deflected by an opponent but still went wide of the goal before being cleared for a corner.

The breakthrough came in the 19th minute when Morata capitalized on a shot from Rafael Leão that had struck the defence. The ball fell to Morata, who quickly fired a low shot into the net to give Milan the lead.

Empoli had a chance to equalize when Tino Anjorin delivered a cross into the box, and Niccolò Colombo rose to meet it with a header. However, as Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan came off his line, the header went over the bar.

Milan’s Christian Pulisic wasted an opportunity to double the lead, receiving the ball inside the area and firing a powerful shot with his left foot, but it sailed over the goal.

The Rossoneri extended their advantage in the 44th minute with a second goal from the impressive Tiani Reinders. He capitalized on clearance from Empoli’s defence, meeting the ball with a clinical header before striking it into the net with a direct shot.

At the start of the second half, Empoli almost pulled one back with a shot from outside the box by Youssef Maleh. His effort struck the crossbar in the 54th minute.

Milan left-back Theo Hernández then tried his luck with a free kick, but it was comfortably saved by Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Reinders completed his brace and sealed the victory for Milan in the 69th minute with a stunning low shot from outside the box. After a run through the midfield, he unleashed a well-placed shot that found the back of the net.

Empoli substitute Samuele Esposito had a chance in the 73rd minute when the ball fell to him in front of Milan’s goal. He fired a powerful shot, but it went over the bar.

Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze also had a chance to add a fourth when he penetrated from the right into the box and took a left-footed shot that narrowly missed the right post.

The final missed opportunity for Milan came from Tammy Abraham in the 78th minute. Chukwueze sent a cross from the right that passed everyone, and Abraham, with an open goal at his mercy, managed only to send the ball wide of the far post.
