Modric becomes the oldest player in Champions League history to score from a penalty kick

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has set a new Champions League record.

In the match of the 6th round of the group stage against Celtic, the Croatian converted a penalty and became the oldest player to score from the 11-meter mark in the tournament. Modric scored at the age of 37 years and 54 days.

The previous record was held by striker Burak Yilmaz, who scored from a penalty kick at the age of 36 years and 244 days for Lille in the 2021/22 Champions League Round of 16 against Chelsea (1-2).
