The municipal stadium in the Moroccan city of El Qasr el Kabir was named after PSG defender and national team Ashraf Hakimi. He announced this on his Twitter page.
The footballer personally attended the ceremony, where he was greeted by thousands of local residents. Hakimi talked to the fans and signed autographs.
– Yesterday I had the honor to open a football field in the city of Qasr el-Kebir, which received my name. I thank the authorities and residents of the city for their support and love for me. It is a great honor for me to return to this city, which holds a special place in my heart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he wrote.
Hakimi has been with PSG since 2021, having previously played for Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Inter.
Together with the Moroccan national team, Hakimi lost to Croatia in the 2022 World Cup in the bronze medal match.
