Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala were the standout performers as Germany secured top spot in their Nations League group with a commanding 7-0 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Germany raced out of the gates with a blistering start, as Jamal Musiala rose to meet an inch-perfect cross from Joshua Kimmich, heading the ball home to give his side an early lead. From there, Germany settled into a commanding rhythm, dominating possession and denying Bosnia & Herzegovina any real chances. With Musiala, Florian Wirtz, and Kai Havertz pulling the strings behind striker Tim Kleindienst, the Germans looked fluid and dangerous in attack. Kleindienst soon doubled the lead, getting the faintest of touches to Robert Andrich’s powerful strike, sending Bosnian heads dropping. Havertz, persistent as ever, made it 3-0 in the 36th minute, linking up with Wirtz for a brilliant give-and-go.
The second half picked up right where the first left off. Wirtz delivered an absolute peach from a set-piece just five minutes after the break, bending the ball past the goalkeeper with perfect spin and dip into the net. Before the hour mark, the Bayer Leverkusen star completed his brace, tapping in after Havertz’s shot was parried by Nikola Vasilj into his path.
With a 5-0 lead, Julian Nagelsmann opted to rotate his squad, making four substitutions—Benjamin Henrichs, Serge Gnabry, Julian Brandt, and Leroy Sane were all introduced. Despite the changes, Germany showed no signs of slowing down. Just minutes after coming on, Sane made an immediate impact, scoring with a clinical finish off a lobbed pass from Havertz. And to seal Bosnia’s humiliation, Kleindienst netted his second and Germany’s seventh, completing a dominant 7-0 victory that left Sergej Barbarez’s side reeling.
The 7-0 loss was the heaviest defeat for Bosnia & Herzegovina in the history of their senior men’s football team.
Following their stunning 7-0 victory over Bosnia, Germany will travel to Hungary for the final matchday of the Nations League group stage next Tuesday.
